Every half a year, Toastmasters clubs holds contests to recognize how much a Toastmaster has improved in their communication and leadership skills.
There are 2 different types of contests held by Toastmasters clubs, as below:
2. International Speech and Table Topic Contest
– on the first half of the year
1. Humorous Speech and Evaluation Contest
– on the second half of the year
Every contest will be held from club level to area level, then to division level. The contestant that wins in the club level will be promoted to the contest in the area level, if he / she wins in the area level, then again, he / she will be promoted to the division level contest.
Now, it is already the month of September, so Toastmasters clubs are holding the Humorous Speech and Evaluation Contests everywhere to produce the winners for Humorous Speech and Evaluation Contest. Of course, Seberang Jaya Toastmasters Club did so and we had the winners too. The contest was held on 2nd September 2010!! Seberang Jaya Toastmasters Club held this contest in collaboration with MEF Toastmasters Club.

After the normal process of a ceremony, the contest began!! We started with the Humorous Contest first. As usual, there is a contest chair separately for Humorous Contest and Evaluation Contest, who were the people to take control on the whole contest progress.

There were two contestants for the Humorous Contest of Seberang Jaya Toastmasters Club.
Justin and IC presented their humorous speeches
Whereas, MEF Toastmasters Club had 5 contestants for the Humorous Speech Contest.
The contestants from MEF Toastmasters Club:
John, Sreed, Kenny, Jeff, Celine, Yan Ting
That was the end of the Humorous Speech Contest, and a lot of people kept laughing non-stop for the humorous speeches presented by the contestants!
Next, we had the Evaluation Contest, taken charge by Wei Kok.

For Evaluation Contest, there was a test speaker to present his speech, while the contestants were evaluating his performance. After all, the contestants were brought out of the room to prepare for their evaluation speech.

There were only 5 minutes for contestants to prepare their speech, and they needed to present the speech. Here they came with the 5 contestants from Seberang Jaya Toastmasters Club!

For the contestants of MEF Toastmasters Club on the Evaluation Contest, I feel sorry that they were not captured. 
But, anyhow, I would say, their contestants for Evaluation Contest were great too! Especially Sreed, the winner of Evaluation Contest! And I really enjoyed his Evaluation speech. He could observed something that I personally didn’t notice about.

This contest is only the Club level, IC and Erik Ooi will be joining the Area level contest.
The Area level contest will be held on 19th Sept 2010, at Seberang Jaya Safira Club too!! No matter if you are a member of Toastmasters Club or not, you are always welcome to join us for our Area level contest, to witness how we run our contests, and to learn how we evaluate other people’s speech.
