Welcome to the club. You have come to the right place to learn Public Speaking and Leadership skills.

Yesterday was our last meeting in the Year of Tiger. Even though most members have gone back to their home town or busy helping their parent for Chinese New Year preparation, we still manage to have 15 members & guests turn out. Thanks to Kenny Lee from MEF, Jonathan from Team Flantech, E-Jiat and Shu Zian from Achiever. And the guest – Chen Ni, a student from Sunway University College.

The theme of the meeting was “The Year of Golden Rabbit” and everyone were sharing how they will spend their coming Chinese New Year. The TOE also printed out “What the Rabbits Year Brings” for 12 zodiac animal signs.

We need to educate ourselves with the significant drawbacks of Facebook – Facebook Addiction, Privacy Consideration & Risk of Professional Life. Then you can better protect yourself and have a positive experience as a member.

For those who aim to achieve your education goal in this term, we have another 10 meetings to go until end June. Please do plan early and update our VPE Justin.

We just had our Division H Humorous Speech and Evaluation Contest 2010 on 10th October 2010. It was a great day, as we had 10-10-10 only once in a life time! Of course, it was a great day for Seberang Jaya Toastmasters Club too!

Yeah… I know, about contest, all you want to know about contest, is the result. How was the result? Yes, it will be revealed soon, just be patient.

on that day, we reached Ipoh Tower Regency Hotel. Since it was still early, let’s look at the scenery outside the hotel. A nice scenery!

We went for registration, then got in to the hall. Everything was ready!

During the contest, photography was not allowed. Thus, here it comes to the end of the contest –> Contest result!

Who won the champion? Yes! I guess most of you were able to get the news from Facebook’s photos!

He is our Champion for Division H!!

Our Area Governor, YS Lee, was so happy for him! And of course, all of us, members of Seberang Jaya Toastmasters Club, are so proud of him!!

I still can remember, IC was once the Toastmaster Of The Evening (TOE), and he began the meeting by leading the members to sing a song, a very nice song. That song created a nice and relax atmosphere for the whole meeting. Let me share the song with you here.

He is always a good speaker, and he is a good leader (especially in singing) too!

And not forgetting, we are proud that we had another candidate who managed to win in the Humorous Contest and enter to the division contest!! That was Toastmaster Justin Noel Manikam!!

It is not easy to get into the division contest, as the contestants need to put in a lot of effort in order to win in the contest!

Congratulations to Toastmaster Justin too!!

Let’s support Toastmaster Ooi Ing Chyuan in the District Level Convention!!

The convention will be held on 29th October ~ 1st November 2010, in Legend Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

We kicked off another regular Toastmaster Meeting on 3rd August 2010.

Theme of the meeting:
Mission is the source of peak performance

Every company, organization, club or society, must have a mission stated clearly. Mission, it serves the purpose to motivate the members to work towards it. Thus, it is not only a mission itself, but it is also a motivator to the members to get them perform better!

Whenever we talk about mission, we should always ask ourselves, what are our missions in our lives. Have we achieved the missions that we set? So, the Table Topic Master, Toastmaster Jeffrey Ooi, has prepared a few questions regarding mission for the Table Topic session.

Toastmasters IC, Jon, Darvin and Leong told us about their missions, and how much they achieved their mission in their lives, or even within this year, 2010.

Of course, we had the prepared assignment speech session, which was the informative session to the members.

We had 2 assignment speakers. The first speaker was Toastmaster Sun Guan Leong (Leong). He shared with us on his mechanical experience, and how should we take care on our cars. The speech was high valued to all car owners.

Next, Toastmaster Kameles, she shared with us, what a purchase agreement suppose to be, what is the process for purchase agreement, and what are the benefits of purchase agreement.

Dare to take risks

The new term of Toastmasters comes with the new challenges to the new exco members. Some people refer the challenges as risks, whereas some people define the challenges as opportunities.

What is your definition of the word “challenge”? Feel free to leave us a comment about your thought on the challenges that you had in your life before. We appreciate your opinions and your personal experience!

With the theme “Dare to take risks”, there came 2 questions during the Table Topic session.

Q1. What was the greatest risk in your life? How did you overcome it?

Rajagopal, DTM, shared that…

the greatest risk in his life was to join Toastmasters. Although he has been teaching English for so many years, but he is still learning, and receiving feedback from other people through the presentation of speeches.

It seems that risks are the opportunities for him to keep on learning in his life.

Q2. Please share with us on the risky moment that you have encountered.

Our IPP, Jessica, ACS, CL, shared that…
She faced a risky moment when she was back from a concert in KL. She missed the bus, so she stayed in the hotel for one night alone, without companion of her friends.

One of the guests, Livia, shared that…
The risky moment in her life was when she was to choose to go for matriculation course, or go for local university. That was because she was waiting for the response of her application of the government scholarship to study overseas. Now, she has got her scholarship to study in US.
